Dentistry is the art and science of diagnosis and treatment of diseases afflicting the mouth and the surrounding anatomic structures. The subspecialties in Dentistry include the following;

Dentistry is one of the foundation Departments of Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital [EKSUTH]. The Department was birthed in April 2008 during the inception of EKSUTH and Dr OBIMAKINDE Obitade [Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon] was appointed as the foundation Head of Department. In 2012, Dentistry was also established as one of the Departments that make up the Faculty of Clinical Sciences of Ekiti State University. Dr ADELEKE Adeyinka [Consultant Restorative Dentist] was the 2nd Consultant employed into the Department by EKSUTH in 2010. The Department is yet to be accredited for Residency training due to lack of man power in the specialist cadre and facilities/ equipment.

Dentistry Department run daily outpatient clinics and patients who presented with diverse Dental treatment needs are managed accordingly. Major Oral and Maxillofacial surgeries are carried out at the Hospital main theatre on Mondays which is the designated day for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Ward-rounds are done for our inpatients on Tuesdays and Thursdays including Accident and Emergency cases. We also do postgraduate seminar on Wednesdays and we offer emergency services 24 hourly.
